Senior Project Manager – Industrial ConstructionDivision: Industrial Construction Build Critical Infrastructure. Lead the Team That Delivers It.TAKNEK LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager Industrial Construction to lead complex construction projects throughout North Texas and support the continued growth of our Industrial Construction division.This is a senior position for a construction professional who can do more than manage an individual project. The Senior Project Manager will have responsibility for the successful execution of multiple projects and will provide leadership, direction, mentoring, and accountability to Project Managers (PMs) and Assistant Project Managers (APMs).The ideal candidate has a strong general contracting background, understands field execution, contracts, cost control, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, and owner relationships, and knows how to build project teams that consistently deliver.TAKNEK is a full-service industrial construction and automation company headquartered in Gainesville, Texas. Our Industrial Construction division delivers complex infrastructure and industrial projects with in-house capabilities spanning civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction.We are looking for a leader who takes ownership.
Project Leadership & Execution
Lead industrial and infrastructure construction projects from preconstruction and turnover through commissioning and final closeout.
Maintain overall responsibility for project safety, quality, schedule, cost, contract compliance, and client satisfaction.
Establish project execution plans, budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and staffing requirements.
Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimates, and project requirements before and during execution.
Identify project risks early and develop practical mitigation and recovery plans.
Maintain accurate project forecasting, including cost-to-complete, committed costs, projected margins, cash flow, and schedule impacts.
Lead project meetings with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, superintendents, and internal stakeholders.
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, procurement, subcontract administration, and project documentation.
Ensure long-lead materials and equipment are identified, released, tracked, and delivered in accordance with the project schedule.
Coordinate closely with field leadership to ensure project plans translate into safe and efficient field execution.
Drive projects through startup, commissioning, punch list, turnover, and final closeout.
Lead Project Managers & APMsA major responsibility of this position is developing TAKNEK’s project management organization.
Provide direct leadership and oversight to assigned Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.
Establish clear expectations for project controls, reporting, documentation, communication, and financial performance.
Review project status with PMs regularly and intervene early when cost, schedule, procurement, contractual, or client issues arise.
Coach PMs on owner communication, contract administration, change management, negotiation, forecasting, and decision-making.
Mentor APMs and create opportunities for them to progressively take ownership of larger portions of projects.
Review the quality and accuracy of project documentation produced by PMs and APMs.
Help standardize project management processes and establish repeatable best practices across TAKNEK projects.
Participate in performance evaluations and development planning for project management personnel.
Build accountability while creating a culture in which team members are expected to identify problems early and bring forward solutions.
Financial & Commercial Management
Own the financial performance of assigned projects.
Establish and maintain project budgets and cost codes.
Review monthly project financials and cost-to-complete forecasts.
Protect project margin through disciplined cost management and change-order administration.
Identify scope gaps, changed conditions, and additional work and ensure they are documented and commercially addressed.
Review subcontractor and vendor proposals, commitments, invoices, and change requests.
Support contract negotiations and resolution of commercial issues.
Monitor billing, collections, retainage, and project cash flow in coordination with accounting and leadership.
Provide management with accurate and timely forecasts rather than reacting after problems have already affected project performance.
Scheduling & Operations
Develop and maintain realistic project schedules with field leadership and project teams.
Understand critical-path activities and actively manage schedule risk.
Coordinate engineering, submittals, procurement, fabrication, subcontractors, self-perform crews, testing, and commissioning.
Evaluate manpower and resource requirements across assigned projects.
Work closely with superintendents and operations leadership to remove roadblocks affecting field production.
Develop recovery plans when projects fall behind schedule and hold responsible parties accountable for execution.
Safety & QualitySafety and quality are fundamental to how TAKNEK executes its work.The Senior Project Manager will:
Reinforce TAKNEK safety requirements and expectations across every assigned project.
Partner with field leadership to ensure project-specific safety planning is completed before and throughout construction.
Promote proactive hazard identification, pre-task planning, and open reporting of safety concerns.
Ensure quality-control requirements are understood and incorporated into project planning and field execution.
Drive proper testing, inspections, documentation, commissioning, and turnover.
Lead by example and reinforce the expectation that schedule or cost pressure never justifies compromising safety or quality.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Develop strong, professional relationships with TAKNEK clients.
Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and required actions clearly and proactively.
Manage difficult project conversations professionally and commercially.
Represent TAKNEK’s interests while maintaining productive long-term client relationships.
Identify opportunities for repeat work and support TAKNEK’s reputation as a dependable construction partner.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of progressive construction project management experience, with significant responsibility for industrial, heavy civil, infrastructure, water/wastewater, utility, process, or similar technically complex construction projects.
Demonstrated experience managing projects as the primary Project Manager.
Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, or similar project personnel.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claims.
Strong project financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, and margin management.
Strong understanding of CPM scheduling and construction sequencing.
Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, field supervision, engineering teams, and owners.
Ability to read and understand civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process construction documents.
Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout North Texas and other project locations as required.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, or process construction.
Experience working for a general contractor with significant self-perform capabilities.
Experience managing multidisciplinary scopes involving civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and controls.
Experience managing projects from preconstruction through startup and commissioning.
Experience working with public-sector owners, municipalities, engineering consultants, and formal bid projects.
OSHA 30 certification.
PMP, CCM, PE, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
